These are a couple of photos of Four Mile Run, taken in late October at
Barcroft Park (located just west of Shirlington). I hope to have some photos
of the squirrels in Barcroft Park, and wild geese and ducks on their southern
migration, in a week or so (Still running into problems with too little
light for my telephoto lens. Either it's overcast and dark when I try to
photograph them, or else too windy and the waterfoul are all hiding in
some sheltered nook instead of out swimming in the creek.)

And, for those with a warped funnybone, here's a photo taken of Four Mile Park, in Alexandria,
at Sunrise on June 17, 2001, the morning following a record-setting rainfall for June 16 (as
recorded by the national weather service at National Airport adjacent to the mouth of Four Mile
Run), with the irrigation system going full blast on the soccer field. Some people just can't
get enough of a good thing!
