Bill Larkins

Staunton, VA

Hi, I'm Bill Larkins. I just moved to Staunton, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley, in December 2002. I moved to Staunton from Alexandria, VA because I love the out-of-doors and the woods, and Staunton is surrounded by the huge George Washington National Forest. I've been out hiking in the GWNF several times since I moved here (the unpacking can wait until the weather is too cold and messy to go out in the woods!)

Here are some initial photos, taken Dec. 30, 2002 with my digital camera on North Mountain in the GWNF. It was a little cool that day on North Mountain, as you can tell from all the "white" background in the photos, and I wasn't really dressed warmly enough for the weather, but I still had a great time out in the woods!

I retired from the US Patent and Trademark Office (located in Arlington, Virginia) 6 years ago. These days, now that I'm retired, I do some part time patent search work (I work for patent attorneys these days instead of for the government), and run several Internet web sites, just for the fun of it, for several friends of mine.

Here's a photo of me, taken with my digital camera (the camera hooks up to the computer.)

I moved to Staunton from Alexandria, VA, located along Four Mile Run which separates Arlington County, VA from Alexandria, VA. Here are a few photos of Four Mile Run, taken in Barcroft Park

I've put together a Brief Photo Tour of the US Patent Office for anyone who might be interested.

And for would-be inventors who want to do their own patent searching, here's a very brief Beginner's Guide to On-Line Patent Searching .

Lately I've been very unhappy with junk faxers, and have started sending a complaint letter to the FCC every time I get a junk fax ad. Here's my "standard form complaint" letter to the FCC, in Rich Text Format:
